In 1938, Eric Cox commenced business by crafting wooden trolleys for the New South Wales railways. Over the decades, E.W. Cox Engineering built a strong reputation for quality engineering, manufacturing, and innovation across multiple industries.
Following the restructuring of the business in the mid-1990s, R.J. Cox Engineering was established, continuing that legacy with continuity of ownership and a renewed focus on materials handling and engineered solutions.
From the beginning, RJ Cox’s engineering expertise extended well beyond trolleys. In the 1950s, we designed and manufactured conveyor systems for leading industrial and domestic goods manufacturers, ranging from biscuits to coal handling.
In the 1960s, E.W. Cox Pty Ltd expanded into Victoria, diversifying into the manufacture of building maintenance units, conveyors, and elevators. By the 1970s, the Sydney operation had further expanded into general engineering, fabrication, machining, manufacturing, service, and installation of a wide range of materials handling equipment.
Following the sale of the building maintenance units business in 1990, the remaining operations were progressively rationalised. Today, R.J. Cox Engineering draws on decades of engineering knowledge and heritage, with a continued focus on materials handling, hospitality, and safety equipment.
