Original Lemcol Listing for Lemcol Polyurethane Wheels

Polyurethane wheels are the most versatile material and are suitable for most applications, from hospital trolleys to gantry cranes.

They have high tear strength, excellent abrasion resistance, and several times longer life spans than the equivalent rubber under similar loads and conditions.

They also offer the advantages of low rolling resistance (meaning less worker fatigue), non-marking, good floor protection, and excellent resistance to flat spotting when left for long periods under heavy load.

Under normal operating conditions, polyurethane's effective temperature range is between -30 Degrees Celsius and +80 Degrees Celsius.

Polyurethane is also resistant to many oils, greases, brine, and industrial solvents.

Alternatives in hardness offer varying characteristics to suit a wide range of applications. For instance, hardness at a soft 80 Shore A provides good shock absorbency and increased wear resistance compared to rubber. In comparison, our standard range of 95 Shore A is the ideal balance between capacity and resilience. For extremely low rolling resistance and high capacity, we offer wheels in 70 Shore D.

Most wheels used in Super, Extra Heavy, and Heavy Industrial castors are moulded onto a cast iron centre machined to a unique pattern. This design increases the bonding surface and reduces the possibility of the polyurethane delaminating under side load.

Where the wheel is used for high-speed towing above 16 kph or as a drive wheel, heat build-up may result in the polyurethane becoming brittle and subject to premature failure.
