Polyurethane wheels are highly versatile and suit most applications, from hospital trolleys to gantry cranes.
They offer high tear strength, excellent abrasion resistance, and several times the lifespan of equivalent rubber under similar loads and conditions.
They also offer low rolling resistance (meaning less worker fatigue), non-marking, good floor protection, and excellent resistance to flat spotting when left under heavy load for long periods.
Under normal operating conditions, polyurethane's effective temperature range is between -30 Degrees Celsius and +80 Degrees Celsius.
Polyurethane is also resistant to many oils, greases, brine, and industrial solvents.
Hardness alternatives offer varying characteristics to suit a wide range of applications. For instance, a soft 80 Shore A provides good shock absorption and increased wear resistance compared to rubber. In comparison, our standard 95 Shore A offers an ideal balance of capacity and resilience. For extremely low rolling resistance and high capacity, we offer 70 Shore D wheels.
Most wheels used in Super, Extra Heavy, and Heavy Industrial castors are moulded onto a cast iron centre machined to a unique pattern. This design increases the bonding surface and reduces the possibility of the polyurethane delaminating under side load.
When the wheel is used for high-speed towing above 16 kph or as a drive wheel, heat build-up may make the polyurethane brittle and prone to premature failure.
